GO Design M.E., PLLC opened May 2017 with a single employee, Gary Osborne, who holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and a P.E. license to practice engineering in the state of Kentucky.  GO Design M.E. is focused on designing reliable, efficient, manufacturable products quickly by eliminating the hindrances of larger engineering departments and firms.


Owner

Gary Osborne received his doctor of philosophy in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Louisville Speed School of Engineering in 2006.  His research while at the University of Louisville focused on the development of conceptual design methodologies for the design of passenger cars and commercial trucks and the implementation of these methodologies into a Windows based software.  Specifically, his research included vehicle architecture modeling abstraction methodologies and automated finite element meshing algorithms for vehicle design.  While the software developed included structural and dynamic analysis of vehicle body structures, it also provided  the capability to assess the dynamic performance of vehicles for acceleration, braking, energy usage, and rigid body kinematics.

Gary Osborne has taught many times courses at the University of Louisville in the areas of dynamics, machine design, CAD, CAE, manufacturing, Matlab programming, object oriented programming, internal combustion engine design, FEA, and vehicle dynamics and handling.  From 2015-2017, he has served as the faculty advisor for the Formula SAE team at the University of Louisville, SpeedFSAE.  He has worked diligently explaining the details of engineering products that are often missed or taken for granted in class lectures.  Gary is knowledgeable in many manufacturing methods including laser cutting, water jet cutting, sheetmetal bending, CNC turning and milling, FDM printing, SLS printing, and carbon fiber layup methods.  While he does not have experience with developing injection molded parts or cast parts, he is very competent in designing products that can be manufactured by these methods.
